Recognition of a Customer's Expectation of Privacy

SouthPoint Bank recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of our customers. We will maintain standards to ensure that your information is private and secure at all times.

Collection, Use, and Retention of Customer Information
SouthPoint Bank collects, uses, and retains information about individual customers only where we believe it would be useful (and allowed by law) to administer business and to provide products, services, and other opportunities to our customers. We collect information about you only for specific purposes and use this information not only to administer your accounts but also to protect them. We also use information to understand your financial needs and design products and services that we believe will be beneficial for you. Information will be used only within the parameters established by our privacy principles which include:

  • Information related to your transactions with us
  • Information we receive from a credit reporting agency
  • Information obtained when you use online (Internet) products and services

Maintenance of Accurate Information
SouthPoint Bank has established procedures to ensure that a customer's financial information is accurate, current, and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial standards. SouthPoint Bank will respond to requests to correct inaccurate information in a timely manner.

Protection of Information via Established Security Procedures
SouthPoint Bank maintains appropriate security standards and procedures to protect customer information from unauthorized access.

Confidentiality and Security
SouthPoint Bank limits access to personally identifiable customer information to those employees with a business reason for knowing such information. SouthPoint Bank educates our employees on the importance of confidentiality and customer privacy, and will take appropriate disciplinary measures to enforce employee privacy responsibilities.

Restrictions on the Disclosure of Account Information
SouthPoint Bank will not sell or rent your information to anyone. We do not reveal specific information about customer accounts or other personally identifiable data to unaffiliated third parties for their independent use unless:

  • The information is provided to help complete a customer-initiated transaction
  • The customer requests it
  • The information is provided in order to perform a service for us and on our behalf (check printing, marketing, title insurance, etc.)
  • The information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar information reporting agency
  • The disclosure is required by or allowed by law (e.g., subpoena, investigation of fraudulent activity.)

SouthPoint Bank does not disclose information about former customers, except as permitted by law.

Maintaining Customer Privacy in Business Relationships with Third Parties
If personally identifiable customer information is provided to a third party, SouthPoint Bank will require the third party to adhere to similar privacy principles that keep such information confidential.

Maintaining Customer Privacy on the Internet
SouthPoint Bank has a web site designed to allow you to access needed information about your accounts in a convenient but very secure format. Our Internet banking service provider maintains a secure environment. Any customer transactions initiated through our Internet banking applications are also covered by the principles in our Privacy Policy. SouthPoint Bank does not use "cookies," or any other means, to store confidential information on your computer or obtain information about you. Cookies are messages that a web server gives to your web browser in connection with your visit to a web site. We comply with the requirements of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) that are applicable to us. We do not knowingly collect information from consumers under the age of thirteen.

Disclosure of Privacy Principles to Customers
A privacy notice is provided to all new customers at the time their account relationship is created. An annual privacy notice will be distributed to all existing active customers. In our efforts to protect individual customer information, we reserve the right to change this privacy policy at any time and you will be notified of any changes prior to implementation.
